Christmas crafts

Greetings!!!

Firstly, thank you all for your kind words of sympathy on the recent death of my friend, Paulie.  I felt terrible depressing grief, but I think the worst is over now.

I have been working on Christmas crafties to keep my mind occupied.  I did share pix of the snowmen I created and have listed them on eBay.  I may list them on Etsy, too.  I made a cute elf - Buddy - for my daughter.  Elf is her favorite Christmas movie, so I made my version of him:

Here he is!  Buddy the Elf!!

Geez, in this picture he looks like he has five-o'clock shadow, but I assure you he doesn't! LOL

I was also working on a little pattern I made and call "Elflings".  Actually, my daughter DID see those and loved them and has put her order in for one!!

This is the very first one I made.

She is in a smaller size.

Here are the two sizes together.

I have since made several more in different colors.  I don't know if I should leave them as is, so they could be used as ornies; or put them on little stands so they can stand up as decor.

I also made several little ornies, mostly to try out patterns.

I call her an Imp Angel.  I plan to tweak the next one a bit.

Here is a wee snowman.  His hat and scarf is some of that beautiful handmade felted wool I had gotten recently.  Since I put him together with buttons, I decided he needed snowflakes on his tummy.

I am currently working on a set of "Celestial" ornies I'm trying out.  I'll have to see how they come out.  If they look worthwhile, I show the pix here!!  I should mention that my darling sweet daughter has given me a project to do!  It's a crocheted monster cover for a tissue box that she wants for a friend.  She got all the supplies for it, so I'll need to start on THAT soon!  LOL  Also I plan to make several scarfs for gifts and I want to try that Sashay yarn from Red Heart.  I've never worked with it before, has anyone else???  It LOOKS fairly easy, but you never know until you start your project!!

I also came up with an idea for something and made it, but I didn't know if it was silly or not. Greta, my daughter, really liked it, so I guess I might try making another.  Sorry, I don't have pix yet.

AND ... I got started cleaning and putting up my Christmas decorations.  It's not like I have a huge house or anything, but I like to handle my two vintage aluminum trees delicately and add the ornaments to them carefully.  My baby 2 ft tree is from 1959 and I don't want to lose any strands off the branches because if it lasted this long, I want to continue enjoying it for many more years!!!  When I finish everything, I will take pix to share.  When I was younger, with young children, I decorated for EVERY holiday.  My front and back doors had pretties that I crafted.  I would put out whatever decor was appropriate and always changed my kitchen curtains (3 windows!) according to the season.  My favorite time of all was Christmas.  I would have two large trees, the family tree always a fresh one just cut by my husband from a trip to New Hampshire just for trees.  But that's when I had room to store things and had lots of room to spread things out.  Now I have a tiny apartment with storage that fights between craft supplies and decorating goodies.  I have realized that I NEED to stop buying craft stuff.  But then, it's so so hard to stay away from the craft stores!  And off of Pinterest and Craftgawker. And all of your wonderful blogs with so many fresh ideas ... I always love to try out new things and I've been getting so much inspiration that I feel like I need ALL kinds of craft items in order to put together ideas in my head.  ARGH!!!!!   I can't seem to stay here at my desk and work - no, I have to spread my crafting all over my living room too!!  Do any of you also have this problem??  I know some of you have wonderful craft rooms dedicated to creativity.  I envy you!!!  Yep, I turn a weird shade of green when I gaze at some of the wonderful spaces out there!!  Ah well, at least I can still "make stuff", so that's a blessing!!!!!

I just want to also say one thing here ~ I am SO thankful that I have met all of you wonderfully creative people here in blogs.  Seeing your beautiful crafts, and decorated homes, and reading your  warm words, is a joy beyond compare!!!  It really makes my heart full and I just want you all to know that!!!!

Love to all until next time ...

  1. Sandie, I love those little elflings! They would be adorable both as ornaments and maybe standing on a little painted box or a repurposed ribbon spool. No matter how small my space...or how large...my crafting materials swell to fill it up. I couldn't stop crafting, even if I had to just give everything away that I made. Have a lovely weekend. =D

    1. Thank you Shirley! Well, for years I always gave everything I made away! I've always loved to make things for people and very rarely have I kept for myself any of the items I made. But it's so much easier now with Etsy and eBay. LOL - half the fun of crafting is buying the supplies!!!!!!

    1. Thank you Erica! My problem is that I like to do so many different types of crafts! And sometimes mix them on a project. Sometimes it depends on the "mode" I'm in! LOL
