After Christmas

Hello dear ones ~

I had plans on the posts I would do  before Christmas and then of course wish everyone the MERRIEST!!!  Unfortunately, I got sick just before Christmas ...and it knocked all of my plans to heck!  I did get to finish some of the projects I was working on for Christmas presents, but never got pix of the finished goods.  *pout*

Pic of my mom MANY moons ago holding her Siamese kitty, who lived to 17 years!

I managed to have a lovely Christmas Eve with a few friends and my darling daughter.  Again, my addled brain never thought TO GO GET THE CAMERA!!!  The rest of this week I have been sleeping and napping a lot and I think I am beginning to feel a little better.  There was a nice dusting of snow Christmas Day, so it WAS a White Christmas for folks around these parts.  Which is really a rare thing to have just a bit of snow for Christmas Eve and a dusting for Christmas Day.  Then it was all gone!  Now snow is expected this weekend, but I hope it's not too much.  My car has a dead battery and can't be moved, so it will just have to sit snowbound if we get very much.  I plan to stay in and watch TV and crochet a little and continue to nap a lot!  LOL.

My sister, Judy, and her older daughter, Katherine, maybe early 80"s.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and is looking forward to a Happy New Year 2013!!  I have no plans for New Year's Eve, but that's okay - I have my kitty girls to keep me company!

My dear little Mummy and me a very long time ago.  (Maybe  in the late 70's or 1980)

I am looking forward to a wonderfully creative year, and enjoying times with all of my blog and crafting friends.  Also looking forward to Erica of Golden Egg Vintage's Valentine Swap!!  I have always enjoyed making Valentine gifties and cards and boxes, so this will be lots of fun, too!

One last picture - my dear Nanny and my 1st niece Brenda, this was from way back in the 60's  at my Sister Lorraine's house (Brenda's mom).

So, again ... happiness to all as the new year dawns on us!!!!

Until 2013,

A VERY WACKY TACKY SHIRT!!!

Well, can you imagine seeing this picture while browsing your blog list???  Boyoboy, did I ever do a doubletake!!!  Whaaaa ... huhhhh ....  did I do something?????

Well, yes, I did!  I won a fabulous Wacky Tacky T-Shirt from Mr. Wacky Tacky himself!!!  He made the cute wanted poster above, which was seen on his blog wacky tacky.  I just received the shirt, so I wanted to show you pix of it, plus the really cute Spam card he sent along with it.

Here it all wrapped in a ribbon with cute wacky pins pinned to it!
The pins say What's Buzzin Cuzzin?, So's Your Old Man
Mellow Greetings, and best of all, Mr. Tiny Loves Me!!

Just look at this awesome RETRO envelope!!!!

Here's the cute T-shirt!  Boy, I sure love old stuff, too!!!

And here's the retro Spam card!!!  Now if this pic doesn't make you drool
for some Spam right now, I don't know what will!!!!

So there it is!!!  Unfortunately, I don't have a picture wearing it yet.  My two kitties are lousy with cameras and there's just no one else around to take a pic of me in it!!!!  But soon ...

If you haven't stopped by his blog, you really should.  I always enjoy a good laugh over there.  Plus, since he's in the LA area, I keep track of some of the cool places he visits.  Someday when I get to visit my son out that way, I am going to see some of these retro-wacky places myself!!!  Along with the Ticky Tacky houses, and any googie places I can find!  THAT'S what I WANT to see out there.  Well, yeah, maybe step into Johhny Depp's footprints and hold hands via his handprints, but ... anyway, I dig that old stuff!!!!

Thanks, Mr Tiny of wacky tacky!  I certainly appreciate the win!!!!!!

So, until the next time

The Whitman Swappies Arrived!!!!!!

The box of ornies from the Whitman Shadowbox Swap hosted by the lovely Elizabeth of Creative Breathing arrived!!!!!  I'm sorry, I didn't get pix of the box or the wrapped ornies - I was too interested in seeing them all and getting them on my tree!!!  OOH OOH OOH  They are all so beautiful and DIFFERENT!!  I just love them all!!   And, boy, do they ever look good on my retro tree!!!  This was just what my tree needed to really look inspiring.  Just take a look at these darlings ...

Aren't they all just adorable??????  There are vintage items used, cute little figures, expert  scissoring, beads, snow, sparklies ....  Each one a work of Christmas art.  I even hung tags on the tree and then there's Elizabeth's darling snowman ...

Elizabeth made this beautiful tag for me-it's hanging in my craft nook!!

This was my FIRST EVER swap and it was such fun to do and such fun to GET!!!!!  These ornies will forever be precious to me and remind me of the lovely, talented, creative, warm, special ladies out there in Blogland!!!!!

Thank you, thank you all, for your creative work that went into the making of these wonderful ornaments.  And not just ornaments ... but, TREASURES.  I am grateful and happy to have been a part of this awesome ornament swap!!!!

Retro Style Ornies and Paper Houses

HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE!!!

I finally finished my little retro style ornies - a little "Celestial" trio!  I can remember doing these back in the early 70's. You may remember the sequined ornament kits that were available.   I did make a set of these many moons ago!  When my son was born in 1970, I started making something for our Christmas tree every year.   It was always something different, sometimes from a kit, which was very popular back then; or from an idea I had, or from something my Mom-in-law was making.  (She was a RISD graduate, and the Art Supervisor for the Seekonk, MA schools for 30 years!)  I learned a lot from her, and we always had fun making stuff!!    The first item I ever made was so teensy tiny, but the title was bigger than it was!!  It was called "Little Red-haired Baby Sleeping Angels"!!  I did have one I'd kept, but don't know where it is now.  At some point I would like to recreate it!  Plus some of the other things we made back then.  I think they would be perfect to do now, with all of the interest in retro things.

I tried to take some pix of them on one of my retro trees, but the pix came out a bit blurry.  I will try them again on the tree and take more pix.  I still need to add hangers to them, so they may be hung properly on the tree instead of being stuck into the aluminum fronds as I did!!  LOL

The Sun

The Star

The Moon

The Trio

Made of felt, sequins, glass beads, embroidered faces with brads for eyes!

Poor Moon stuck in the tree!!

I made this star with PINK and decided to keep it!

So she has a hanger and is hanging on the livingroom tree!

Now onto the Paper Houses!  I happened to check out Mein Leila Park and her post is a wondrous parade of all sorts of adorable printable paper houses!!!  Here's the link to her blog:

I checked out all of the little houses, saved and printed the ones I wanted.  Then I had the task of cutting them out, scoring the folds, folding to see how each one looked, then gluing them so they would stay put!  Last night I had a glitter party of one and accented them with glitter colors, then overall with the clear sparkly glitter.  I could hardly wait for them to dry, so I could add them to my little forest of bottle brush trees sprouted on top of my TV armoire.  Please pardon some of the pix - it's a very gloomy day out there so not much good natural light.

Here is the whole village.

A little gingerbread cottage.

A side view to see the sparkly roofs.

The Mouse gingerbread house and The Owls gingerbread house!

The mousies up close.

The other side of the houses.

You can see the sprinkles of glitter on the armoire, because I was in such a hurry to add them up there!!  These are not PUTZ houses, but still really cute ones to add to your decor.  I think there may some patterns to make putz style houses, but I can't get into that at this moment.  I need to start crocheting, as I have gifties to make!!!  So away goes the glitter, glue, felt, sequins, beads, and chenille stems.  Out come the hooks and yarn!!!!  Thank you for coming by today!!!  I will be showing pix of some of my retro decor soon, I promise!!!  Plus I have lots to blogs to stop by and read, so I have to plan a blog catch-up that goes back over several days worth!!!!  But I just LOVE seeing what everyone is up to and enjoy reading each and every one so MUCH ~ so blog-hopping I'll go!!!

Until next time,
